What is the Ultimate Lift Facial?
This treatment is perfect for a pre-event boost, a post indulgence de-tox or as part of a healthy skin maintenance plan because it releases the fascia that can get stuck and taut creating lines and tension within the face, induces relaxation through muscle massage, increases oxygenation (blood flow) to the skin cells through not only manual massage but also using holistic tools such as facial cups, gua sha and facial reflexology,
Using topical products appropriate to your skin, this facial is in three parts.
1) Fascia Release
Simply put fascia is a thin, almost transparent covering of connective tissue that covers and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fibre and muscle in place. It has its own nerve supply too and is connected from the tip of our nose to the tips of our toes! It is highly sensitive and when placed under tension creates physical symptoms. On our skin, we can see lines and a lack of symmetry caused by tight fascia.
Using manual methods only, we gently release this tension to improve not only the look but also the feel of the face, neck and decollete.
2) Muscle Lifting
Then we turn our attention to your facial muscles and using both specialised manual massage and microcurrent methods, the muscles of the face and neck are lifted.
For maximum benefit and long-term lift, a course of 10 CACI treatments is recommended and this facial can then be part of your maintenance programme.
3) Cell Regeneration
Using the Dermalux Compact LED light machine, we increase cellular activity, increase oxygenation (blood flow) to the skin cells, improve conditions such as pigmentation, support general ageing and help improve mood.

4) Finishing Products

How long do the results last?
If you just had a one-off treatment the day before a special occasion, then about 3 days. After you have completed your intensive starter course of 10-15 treatments in a 4-6 week period, then results will last 4-6 weeks on average.
Prep Required
None; the best time to book is later in the day so you can rest and relax afterwards, plus there is no need for SPF application.

It’s a 4-step process
1. We complete the skin review form together, examine history and current skin concerns, and analyse our current skin routine, determining what’s working and what’s not.
2. Use the Observ 520 machine to look at the underneath of your skin to help signpost us to underlying factors that need to be considered.
3. Perform a gentle cleanse and analyse the skin through a magnifying light. Apply a simple routine, including SPF, for your journey home.
4. Suggest and agree on any next steps.

Are all LED facial Machines the same?
No, they differ in many ways.
They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. The professional brands like Dermalux and Celluma have larger machines for clinics to use and can achieve great results in a short space of time. This is to do with the number of panels these machines have. They are quite bulky and basically have an arm with multiple light panels on the end that come across the face or body and can be shaped and adjusted to cover the area being treated.
Others are shaped like a bridge, either rectangular or an arch, and the last group are masks that fit directly onto face. The Dermalux Compact Lite only needs 8 x 10 min sessions vs Dermalux Flex which would need 12 x 30 min sessions to achieve a similar result.
When it comes to science and safety, companies like Dermalux and Celluma have UK Medical and/or FDA certification, which means these machines are classed as medical devices and it is a rigorous process to achieve this level of certification. They use only the LED wavelengths, at the right point on the wavelength, that has been proven to achieve a result in either regeneration, pain management (red light), calming, mood boosting and bacteria reduction (blue light), and healing (near infra red light).
You should be very cautious when purchasing from the internet. I’m not a physicist so I won’t try to re-interpret the data available on both dermaluxled.com or cellumuk.uk, there’s plenty for you to read there, but the key take away is they are using proven science with high levels of safety built in, a device registration process, education provision and you have re-course to the company in the event of an issue.
Both Dermalux and Celluma have home use models. Dermalux is The Flex and Celluma is Celluma HOME. These retail at £1,999 and £1,074 respectively. Quite an investment. So it’s understandable that people look at alternatives. However, I could say the Flex has all 3 proven LED lights – red, blue and near infra-red, so does offer greater options.
A popular home use alternative to these companies among professionals is FaceLite natural-facelift.com. This is a strap on mask which sits right on the face, so remember your hygiene procedures and ensure you use the manufacturer’s recommendations.
With a price range of £300-£500 and a range of support products such as the hydrating gel mask, Face-lite seems a sound alternative. I have tried their hydrating gel mask using it with my Dermalux Compact and the mask certainly gave an added benefit. Some of my colleagues in the skin world have reported their clients are happy with the result the FaceLite is giving them. So worth a try.

What does it feel like when fascia releases?
Sensations differ from person to person. I can feel quite warm in the area that’s being treated, plus a feeling of relaxation in the area. Where we go over acupressure points, there can be a slight discomfort, so we hold, ease and breath on those areas which gradually let go and discomfort subsides. It’s a gentle process yet tackles tight spots.

Is the Ultimate Lift facial painful?
There should be no pain, but a slight sensation or metal taste is sometimes experienced, and as everyone’s tolerance is different, you should give feedback to your therapist if they are squeezing the probes too hard on the muscle being worked.
